Leeds recovered from a half-time deficit to earn a crucial victory in their
European Shield quarter-final first-leg clash against Petrarca at Headingley.
Two second-half tries from Argentinian Diego Albanese helped the Tykes bounce
back after a slow start against the Italians.
Petrarca led 13-12 at the interval thanks to the efforts of Test fly-half
Luciano Orquera, who converted his own try and kicked two penalties.
The Tykes had opened the scoring when referee Jean-Pierre Matheu awarded a
penalty try after Petrarca collapsed the scrum on their own line.
The visitors responded through Orquera but Mark Regan scored in the 40th
minute to keep his side in touch.
Albanese then scored in the 44th and 52nd minutes to put the Tykes in charge
before former British Lion Tim Stimpson wrapped things up with his side's fifth
try.
The home side's cause was helped by three yellow cards to Petrarca but the
Italian side will fancy their chances of overturning the 16-point deficit at
home next weekend.
