Sale Sharks cruised into the quarter-finals of the European Challenge Cup on Friday night as they brushed aside French outfit Narbonne.
The Sharks won 25-10 on the night to make the aggregate score 58-25 in their favour.
Chris Mayor, Steven Hanley, Sebastien Chabal scored the hosts' tries at Edgeley Park with American Mike Hercus kicking two penalties and two conversions.
Hercus, in for the rested Charlie Hodgson, gave the Sharks the lead with an early penalty before centre
Mayor scorched over on the half-hour.
Hanley extended the lead with a try two minutes into the second half,
Hercus adding the conversion and a penalty.
Narbonne, drifting mid-table in the French Championship, finally responded
with a try through Bertrand Bedes before Chabal marked his return from
suspension with a try against his countrymen.
The France back row stormed over a minute from time for a try converted by
Hercus to round off an emphatic display.
Sharks director of rugby Philippe Saint Andre said: "I'm very pleased with our overall performance in beating quality French opposition across the two legs.
"We look forward to the quarter-final, which will be an exciting occasion for the team and the Sharks' supporters."
The last-eight ties take place in January when Sale will face either Viadana or
Agen who play on Saturday.
