England World Cup winner Josh Lewsey had an eventful afternoon as Wasps ran out convincing winners in their Zurich Premiership clash with Saracens.

Wasps wing Lewsey suffered a bang to the head early in the game but got up after two minutes of treatment to score two tries in an easy victory at the Causeway Stadium.

After being given the all-clear by referee Steve Leyshon to play on, Lewsey ran the show until leaving the field in the 64th minute when the bonus point was secure.

Rob Howley began the rout with Wasps' opening try and there were also scores for Craig Dowd and Ayoola Erinle. Alex King weighed in with five conversions and two penalties.

The win keeps Wasps in second place, some 10 points behind leaders Bath. Sarries are second bottom but at least have a 17-point buffer over Rotherham.

King set the home side on the way with two penalties in the opening 20 minutes and it took a strong tackle from Richard Haughton to deny Tom Voyce a try.

Lewsey showed just how fit he was in the 33rd minute when he saw an opportunity on the left and scooped up a loose ball to go over.

That score helped Wasps take a 20-0 lead into the interval and Lewsey added his second try nine minutes after the interval when he touched down in the corner.

Prop Dowd crashed over 10 minutes later after being pushed forward by the pack and Erinle broke clear to wrap up the scoring two minutes from time. His pace took him past both Adryan Winnan and Haughton as he raced in from 65 metres.

It was an impressive performance from Wasps, who decided against bringing back former Wakefield rugby league winger Paul Sampson.

Sampson has been out since suffering a serious knee injury in last year's Dubai Sevens but he had been pencilled in for a comeback until aggravating the problem in an A team game.
