Wasps finished the regular season second in the Zurich Premiership despite a
home defeat to Harlequins at Adams Park.
Fly-half Paul Burke opened the scoring for Quins in the sixth minute with a
curling long range penalty kick.
However, Wasps went ahead in the 23rd minute as the pack surged forward with
prop Craig Dowd placing the ball down, the conversion being made by fly-half
Alex King.
The visitors were forced to play with only 14 men when centre Chris Bell was
sin-binned after kicking the ball while offside, and Wasps immediately took
advantage with a successful penalty from King.
Winger Ugo Monye beat his opposite number Kenny Logan to score a vital try,
but Burke's penalty attempt sailed wide, making the half-time score 10-8.
Sprinting down the left wing, Logan reached a Fraser Waters' pass to score a
43rd- minute try, and although King's conversion attempt failed to reach the
upright, the fly-half was spot on with a penalty 10 minutes later.
An unguarded moment in defence cost Wasps dearly as scrum-half Matthew Powell
got to a loose ball to touch down for a try before Burke converted.
Quins moved ahead in the 65th minute when Monye scored his second try and
Burke slotted the conversion.
King reduced the deficit to just one point with a successful penalty in the
68th minute, but Burke rifled through a drop goal in the 74th minute to seal
victory.
