Overmach Parma have lodged an appeal with the Parker Pen Shield's governing body, European Rugby Cup, over their decision to award Pontypridd the points from the unfulfilled Pool Three match.
The ERC ordered the match to be switched to Gloucester on Thursday night after the original tie, scheduled for last weekend in Parma, was twice postponed due to a frozen pitch.
However, the Italians refused to travel, arguing that the match must take place either in Parma or at a venue of their choosing.
Their no-show prompted ERC to award Pontypridd the points by default.
Parma president Andrea Ghidini revealed on Sunday he had lodged an official appeal against the decision and informed the International Rugby Board of his concerns.
The Italians would like the tie to be played in Parma on January 23, just two days before the quarter-finals are due to begin.
"We are very unhappy with the ERB's decision," he said. "We have lodged our appeal with them and made our views known to the IRB.
"The question is on the report of the referee.
"We believe that the referee did not carry out a proper inspection of the alternative pitch in Parma that we could have played on.
"Ordering us to then play the game in Gloucester penalises Leeds."
Pontypridd's rousing victory over Beziers on Saturday ensured that, unless the Welshman lose any rearranged fixture to Parma, Leeds Tykes could not qualify for the last eight.
If Parma do lose their appeal, Leeds' dominating performance, from a largely second-string side on Sunday, will be rendered meaningless.
Full-back Jon Benson produced a faultless kicking display - 10 from 10 - while Jamie Mayer ran in a hat-trick of tries.
Wing Dan Scarborough raced in for two excellent scores and there was a try apiece for veteran fly-half Stephen Bachop and the returning Scott Benton.
Phil Davies maintains he has little interest in the political wranglings and is concentrating on Zurich Premiership survival and next week's Powergen Cup quarter-final.
For Parma, though, coach David Snyman blamed the off-field distractions for their lapses in concentration, which Leeds ruthlessly capitalised on.
The South African, who saw fly-half Roland di Marigny driven over for his side's only score, said: "You can never separate the off-field stuff with on-field performance.
"Today was a reaction to what has happened. Giving them four or five tries just isn't acceptable at this level."
