Leaders Llanelli came from behind to launch a rousing six-try second half
fightback at Stradey Park.
But the Scarlets never found it easy to shake off determined Neath who seemed
sparked into renewed vigour by a threat to their status if Wales' "gang of
six" get their way to cut the rest from the Welsh league.
That will leave no room for the Welsh All Blacks but on this form they will
not disappear without leaving their mark.
Neath led 10-6 at the break after a smart try by scrum-half Andy Moore and a
conversion and two penalty goals from fly-half Lee Jarvis.
But all that changed in an electrifying second-half when tries by Neil
Boobyer, Salesi Finau and skipper Scott Quinnell shot the Scarlets 26-10 ahead
and on course to protect their Welsh-Scottish league leadership.
But Neath stuck it out bravely to the end to earn tries from Dave Tiueti and a
stunner from Jarvis which meant Llanelli had to come again to make things safe.
They did so in style with a clever try from scrum half Dwayne Peel before
Boobyer rounded it off in style with a drop goal.
