Neath wrapped up a comfortable win as Uruguay had two men sent off in a
storming encounter at The Gnoll.
Fly-half Shaun Connor steered the Welsh All Blacks home with 14 points made up
of a try, three conversions and a penalty.
But the Uruguayans did not help themselves with indiscipline that saw flanker
Marcelo Gutierrez and replacement prop Diego Bessio sent off.
Gutierrez walked after the second of two yellow cards, picked up for fighting
and a late tackle, while Bessio had only been on a minute when he was dispatched
for stamping.
With Connor pulling the strings, Neath overcame the distractions to ease home
with plenty to spare.
The home side led 14-3 at half-time with their pack having taken control
towards the end of the period.
But Uruguay proved surprisingly competitive in the early exchanges and were
3-0 ahead until the 35th minute after a penalty from skipper Diego Aguirre
midway through the half.
Neath eventually broke through after applying good forward pressure for wing
Kevin James to exploit space out wide to canter over unopposed.
Connor converted and then swooped for a try of his own following fine work
from flanker Steve Tandy and skipper Steve Martin.
The action was never less than committed in the opening 40 minutes and three
players were sin binned for scrapping.
Neath's Paul Jones and Uruguay's Gutierrez saw yellow on 28 minutes, while the
visitors' Martin Lopez was binned for wrestling on the floor soon after.
Tandy and fellow back-row man Richard Francis crossed for tries as Neath
rammed home their numerical advantage late on.
