Saracens moved into fourth place in the Zurich Premiership and are on course
for a play-off spot.
The Vicarage Road club are now level on 54 points with London rivals Wasps but
could still progress further up the table with two remaining league fixtures
against Northampton and Newcastle.
Saracens scored two tries to Bristol's one with Duncan McRae opening the
account with an early penalty.
Prop Julian White then capitalised on the sin-binning of Bristol forward
Darren Crompton to muscle his way over the goalline after good work by Richard
Hill and Daragh O'Mahony.
Centre Kevin Sorrell was next on the scoresheet after he caught Bristol's
defence napping to jink left and charge 45 metres upfield to score. This time
McRae converted before adding a further two penalties.
It took Bristol more than 20 minutes to score any points. Fly-half Felipe
Contepomi converted a penalty in the first half before adding a second minutes
into the second half.
Winger Jamie Mayer scored the west country side's only try of the afternoon
but it was a consolation effort as Bristol were thoroughly outclassed.
Bristol meanwhile will rue the defeat because they remain outside the top
eight elite clubs who will contest the play-offs in April and May after London
Irish's surprise win over Northampton on Saturday.
