Saracens moved back into the Premiership title hunt as a 26-18 win over
Harlequins lifted them back up to second place in the table.
The Vicarage Road club, who have now won seven of their 12 league games,
collected four vital points for today's victory to take them within seven of
leaders Leicester.
England international Dan Luger scored the only try of the afternoon in a
gritty encounter.
The pacey winger, thinking on his feet, caught the opposition napping to
charge through Harlequins' defence, seeing off Garrick Morgan and Jamie Williams
along the way to score after 29 minutes.
Full-back Williams was later stretchered off following his tackle on Luger.
Centre Kevin Sorrell, kicking in the absence of the injured Duncan McRae,
missed the conversion but Saracens still headed the visitors before the break
with four penalties to Harlequins' three kicked by Niall Woods.
Quins, in a buoyant mood following their convincing Tetley's Bitter Cup
quarter-final triumph over Northampton a week ago, rattled Saracens in the
second half with ever-reliable Irish international Woods adding a further three
penalties.
But Sorrell, kicking for the first time for Saracens, held his nerve and
kicked a further three penalties of his own in the second half to keep his
side's heads above water and clinch the win.
