Fereti Tuilagi's spectacular injury-time tie clinched victory for Zurich
Premiership leaders over second-placed Gloucester 31-28.
The Tigers were trailing 28-24 when centre Tuilagi, who only joined the
Welford Road club little more than a month ago, dived over Gloucester's goalline
on the left wing after 84 minutes.
Tuilagi was not Leicester's only hero though. Fullback Tim Stimpson was as
solid as ever with the boot kicking all of Leicester's 26 points until that
last-gasp try from the Western Samoan.
Gloucester could feel slightly aggrieved by the outcome as they dominated the
majority of the game.
The west country side scored three tries in all, the first after 16 minutes,
claimed by forward Andy Deacon.
Winger Chris Yates then made the most of some good work by Western Samoan
Junior Paramore to crash over on the right wing following a tactical switch of
play that caught Leicester out.
Number eight Paramore then made it three in a row for the visitors with a
39th-minute try.
Stimpson's opposite number Byron Haywood was also handy with the boot as he
kicked three penalties and two conversions.
But, in the end, it was not enough as Leicester pulled out all the stops to
prove why they are the reigning domestic league champions.
