Fereti Tuilagi scored a hat-trick of tries as Leicester sailed into the fifth
round of the Tetley's Bitter Cup.
The Samoan, a recent signing from rugby league side St Helens, further
enhanced his reputation as the Tigers hammered Otley at Welford Road.
It was a club record score in the cup for the Tigers, beating their 76-0
victory over Exeter and sets up a mouth-watering clash away to Gloucester in the
fifth round next week.
But Tigers were much too strong for the visitors and after leading 33-8 at
half-time rattled up 50 points in the second half and conceded just three.
Tuilagi started the ball rolling with two tries in the opening 17 minutes, the
second a length-of-the-field effort which he started and finished.
He completed his hat-trick in the 48th minute but there were also three tries
in a second for prop forward Perry Freshwater in the space of just 24 minutes.
Andy Goode, who played the first half at full-back and the second at fly-half,
had a fabulous afternoon, scoring 23 points, including a try.
Tigers' other tries came from Leon Lloyd, Paul Gustard, Austin Healey, Peter
Short, Will Johnson and John O'Reilly. Goode kicked nine conversions.
Otley's only try came two minutes from the end of the first half when fly-half
James Lofthouse's penalty attempt rebounded off the woodwork and was collected
by winger Tom Lauriston. After recycling the ball number eight Lee Denham scored
in the corner. There were also two penalties for Lofthouse.

Leicester manager Dean Richards said the result showed the huge gulf between
the first and second divisions.
He said: "Realism has to set in, and when a professional team meets a team of
amateurs there is always the potential for this sort of result.
"You feel sorry for the Otleys of this world when it happens."
Otley coach Peter Clegg agreed.
He said: "We always feared this could happen but hoped it wouldn't and hoped
there would be some respectability to the scoreline.
"But it was always on the cards the way rugby is and the way Leicester play.
"Class showed. It was a professional outfit against a team of amateurs. I'm
proud of the way our lads played, but there's a massive gulf between the top of
the First Division and the bottom end of the second."
