Gloucester's problems continue.
Even with their side badly hit by injuries they could have expected to claim
victory over Sale.
In the event, despite a last-kick chance for victory they could have few
complaints.
Sale had an extra yard of pace and their close quarter tackling was invariably
too good.
Gloucester scored two tries to Sale's one and the second to winger Franck
Schisano raised hopes of Gloucester snatching success.
Unfortunately for them Byron Hayward's kick drifted past the post to signal
the end.
Sale were delighted with their second Premiership victory which was based on
sheer hard work.
Their midfield tackling was superb and in Niki Little and Vaughan Going they
had the best players on view.
Going kicked superbly and the full-back marked his 28th birthday with the
crucial Sale try late in the game.
Little kicked the conversion to add to his four penalties.
Just when all seemed lost Gloucester staged a revival.
Showing more urgency, they hit back with a penalty by Hayward and then
Schisano's injury time try.
Unfortunately they were left to regret their lack of real drive early on,
until the last few minutes of the first half when Jake Boer was driven over
after a line out.
A Haywood penalty and his conversion saw Gloucester lead 10-6 at half time but
they were punished by Little's kicks which really decided matters.
