Australia coach Robbie Deans expects Tuesday's showdown with Gloucester to be an "education" for his tourists.
The trend of staging old-school tour matches against club sides has been revived by the Wallabies and South Africa this autumn.
Australia warm up for Saturday's Grand Slam opener against England at Twickenham on Saturday with a trip to Kingsholm.
They are also playing Cardiff Blues on November 24 while the Springboks have organised fixtures against Leicester and Saracens.
Gloucester will face a side containing nine full internationals, including winger Drew Mitchell and scrum-half Luke Burgess, yet Deans believes it is Australia who are in for a shock.
"We're very much looking forward to this game. It's great for the whole squad to be able to get a match, which is unusual these days," he said.
"It's kept the boys connected in preparation terms and it's great from a development point of view.
"Playing in Gloucester will be an education for some of these blokes, there's no doubt about that.
"It's likely to be bucketing it down and we'll all be better for the experience. I've told the players about the Shed as well!"
NSW Waratahs lock Dean Mumm, 25, captains the Wallabies while outside centre Ryan Cross is the only player retained in the starting XV from last weekend's defeat by New Zealand in Tokyo.
But Cross is joined by the front-line international quintet of Mumm, wingers Lachie Turner and Mitchell, scrum-half Burgess and hooker Tatafu Polota-Nau.
Fly-half Quade Cooper, number eight Richard Brown and prop Sekope Kepu also have international experience while Wycliffe Palu, Matt Dunning, Mark Chisholm and James O'Connor have been named on the bench.
Gloucester will be led by Jake Boer in his first appearance since rejoining the injury-ravaged club last month.
Boer, a former Premiership player of the season award winner, left Kingsholm in 2007 having made over 180 appearances during seven years.
Winger Tom Voyce, fly-half Carlos Spencer and second row Adam Eustace are the experienced faces in a makeshift Gloucester line-up.
