80 min: CONVERSION - O'GARA. O'Gara converts with the last kick of the game.

80 min: TRY - CUETO. The Lions tap and go from the penalty and Cueto holds off the last two defenders to crash over in the corner.

80 min: Easton is in the bin for a shoulder charge. Hardly the most sensible piece of refereeing we'll see as there's two seconds on the clock.

80 min: Bulloch takes it quickly as the Lions look to go out on a high but D'Arcy knocks on. Manawatu opt to kick the ball away, using up the advantage, and Shaw is able to press forward. He is held up and Easton is called to the referee for what must have been an offence in back play.

79 min: Cooper bursts from the back of the scrum and flicks an ambitious pass back on the inside with O'Gara gathers despite a huge hit coming in. The Lions rumble for the line but they've been held up. Play comes back for a penalty to the Lions in back play.

78 min: Bulloch is back on for the Lions with Titterrell making way.

77 min: CONVERSION - O'GARA. O'Gara slots over the conversion.

76 min: TRY - WILLIAMS. The century mark is reached and it's apt that it is Williams who crosses out wide after a lovely break from O'Gara with good support with him.

75 min: Stevens' indiscretion saves the Lions from the indignity of conceding a try at least for the time being as the Manawatu attack has lost its momentum. O'Gara pumps downfield as the Lions gather and finds a good touch.

74 min: The line-out is worked out to the left with Cueto making five or so yards. It comes back to the middle of the field but there's an interception and suddenly the field opens up for Paul Maisiri. He opts for a cross-field kick after being caught but there are men back for the Lions and a ruck forms. The Lions come in from the side and Nick Buckley taps and goes. Stevens is blatantly offside but still tackles Buckley and it's no surprise to see him binned.

73 min: O'Gara chips the ball into touch down the right.

72 min: The Lions probe left and right as they look to break the 100-mark and a penalty comes in the middle of the field as Manawatu dive off their feet at the ruck.

71 min: Cockbain gathers the restart as Manawatu bring David Palu on for Hargreaves.

70 min: TRY - COOPER. Manawatu eventually get to within five metres of the line when Bradnock just fails to offload. Cueto starts the counter-attack by getting good go-forward before O'Gara dinks a kick ahead. Williams gets a fly-kick to it but Leota gets onto it first. A ruck forms but the ball pops out the side to Cooper and he is over for another Lions try.

69 min: The Lions work the ball to Williams from the scrum but he's forced over the touchline for four Manawatu defenders. Kemp finds his man at the line-out this time and the Lions stray offside in midfield. Hargreaves taps and goes and suddenly the Manawatu forwards are lifted by sight of the tryline.

68 min: Manawatu may be out on their feet but again they attack gamely and manage to get the restart back on their side. They recycle through a couple of phases but Bryant knocks on.

67 min: CONVERSION - O'GARA. O'Gara converts his own try.

66 min: TRY - O'GARA. The restart is worked to O'Gara and he finds a good touch down the left. The line-out throw is a poor one from Kemp and the Lions are presented with possession yet again. The ball is worked through a couple of pairs of hands before O'Gara cuts in on a lovely support line to go over.

65 min: CONVERSION - O'GARA. O'Gara converts from in front.

64 min: TRY - CUETO. Braddock is helped back to his feet and the Lions restart with a scrum. The ball is quickly slipped through the hands out to Cueto and he angles in from the right flank to score under the posts.

63 min: It's only a brief respite for the Manawatu defence as Cueto goes at them. It takes three men to get him down and as he offloads there's a knock-on from the hosts as they try to scrabble the back on their side. John Bradnock is down with cramp.

62 min: Kemp finds his man at the line-out and Bryant kicks well down the left, taking play back into the Lions' half.

61 min: O'Gara dinks a kick over the first line of the Manawatu defence but it just skips away from Williams, who was again marauding down the left.

60 min: The Lions bring Matt Stevens on for Hayes.

59 min: Kemp's line-out throw sails over the top of the line and Back gathers after reacting quickest. The ball is flicked out to D'Arcy and he pumps it into touch down the left.

58 min: Manawatu are still looking game in attack as they work the ball from left to right and earn a penalty as Ben Trew, who has come off the bench, is not given chance to release. Smith pumps the ball into touch down the right.

57 min: O'Gara again misses the conversion out to the right.

56 min: TRY - O'GARA. The ball is worked out wide to the left where Back takes two men in contact and offloads superbly to O'Gara who arcs around the last Manawatu defender to score.

55 min: It's one against the head for the Lions as they get the shove on up front. The ball is quickly recycled and worked to O'Gara who sends a lovely kick deep into Manawatu territory. They take the line-out quickly and work it to Gray but he can't find his touch.

55 min: Shaw knocks on at the restart.

54 min: O'Gara's conversion is poor and drifts out to the right.

53 min: TRY - D'ARCY. Cueto is on for Sale team-mate Robinson. Titterrell finds his man in the line-out and Sheridan goes around the back of the line. The ball is worked out to the left through several pairs of hands - including Cueto's - before coming back towards the posts. Then Cooper switches it back to the left and O'Gara's pass invites D'Arcy to pick the right line and score.

53 min: Kane Barrett gets a ticking off from the referee for what the touch judge claims is a swinging arm. As the touch judge didn't see contact he escapes a sin-binning. O'Gara chips the ball into touch down the right.

52 min: Penalty to the Lions as Manawatu transgress after a couple of phases following the restart. The touch judge is on.

51 min: The Lions bring Ronan O'Gara on for Hodgson, whose kicking from hand has been excellent all night.

50 min: CONVERSION - HODGSON. Hodgson converts as replays show the Lions players in the stands off their feet at Shaw's incredible run.

49 min: TRY - BACK. Shaw gathers the restart and sets off on an absolutely incredible run. Having gathered the ball 10 metres inside the Lions half he is finally dragged down five metres from the Manawatu line! Back is the first man there in support and it's one of the easiest tries he will ever score.

48 min: Hodgson just can't pull his kick around enough to bisect the posts.

47 min: TRY - WILLIAMS. Scrappy line-out ball for the Lions but D'Arcy makes something of it with a clever arcing run back towards his forwards. Great recycling from the Lions takes play well into the Manawatu 22 and it's almost inevitable when the try comes. Hodgson is the man to flick the final pass to him this time and there's no stopping the Welshman.

46 min: Cockbain gaters the restart well and it's worked into the hands of Hodgson. He finds touch down the right but Manawatu are able to take the line-out quickly. It works against them as Gray is held up with no support and holds on too long in contact. Hodgson pumps the ball into touch down the left. Lions line-out just outside the Manawatu 22.

45 min: CONVERSION - HODGSON. Hodgson slots over the conversion.

44 min: TRY - SMITH. Williams skips past four or five tacklers in a mazy run before flicking it wide to Cooper. He too makes progress down the left before the Lions work it back through midfield and out to the right. Williams has another dart after switching flanks and then Cockbain sucks in a couple of tacklers, opening the way for Smith to go over.

43 min: Cockbain has an inauspicious start as he fails to gather the restart and Manawatu are able to make some progress down their left wing. They are lacking the ideas to break down the Lions defence, though, and a knock-on presents the ball to Williams in his own half.

42 min: CONVERSION - HODGSON. Hodgson converts his own try.

41 min: TRY - HODGSON. Good quick ball for the Lions from the line-out and it's worked to Smith. He powers into the Lions 22 and offloads superbly to D'Arcy. Corry and Sheridan look to rumble over from close range after getting up in support but it's the backs who take the glory again as Hodgson goes over under the posts.

40 min: Hodgson restarts play and the Manawatu handling lets them down with the ball out for a Lions line-out.

40 min: The Lions have brought Neil Back, Gareth Cooper and Cockbain on for Martyn Williams, Cusiter and O'Callaghan.

HT: Manawatu 6 Lions 38.

40 min: Hayden Triggs gathers the restart superbly as Kemp comes out of the bin. The ball is worked out to Gray but he is scragged by Williams and carried over the touchline. That's half-time.

39 min: PENALTY - HARGREAVES. Hargreaves punishes Smith's indiscretion by slotting over.

39 min: Bulloch is off, with Andy Titterrell coming on.

38 min: Manawatu press from the restart but after four or five phases the attack falters and they are forced back to halfway. Smith is then penalised for straying offside so it's a Manawatu penalty.

37 min: CONVERSION - HODGSON. Hodgson adds the extras.

36 min: TRY - SHANE WILLIAMS. Good breaks from Sheridan from the scrum, Hodgson and then Corry take play to the brink of the Manawatu 22. Smith then takes the contact before flipping it out Shane Williams and he evades the last tackle before leaping theatrically in to score.

35 min: There's a knock on from Paul Rodgers as he tries to gather Hodgson's restart and it's a scrum to the Lions just inside the Manawatu half. Simon Easton enters the fray for Matenga to ensure Manawatu have a full complement in the front row with Kemp binned.

34 min: PENALTY - HARGREAVES. Hargreaves slots over the penalty to put his side on the board.

33 min: Manawatu do well to chase Smith's restart kick and get the ball back on their side. It's much better stuff from the hosts as they recycle it through three or four phases before drawing a transgression from the Lions forwards at the ruck. With no points on the board yet and Kemp in the bin, Manawatu opt for the 'easy' option of going for the posts.

32 min: Hodgson's conversion kick doesn't match his previous efforts from hand as it stays well wide of the right-hand post.

31 min: TRY - ROBINSON. Manawatu are losing their discpiline, one presumes in frustration. This time there's a transgression at the first ruck after the line-out and Cusiter taps and goes quickly. It's worked out to Robinson and he powers over from five metres out.

30 min: The restart is worked into the hands of Hodgson and he is on the receiving end of a high, swinging arm from Kemp. The touch judge is in to instruct the referee that it should be a yellow card and the Manawatu man departs for a 10-minute spell in the cooler. Hodgson picks himself off and finds a good touch down the right.

29 min: CONVERSION - HODGSON. Hodgson slots over the extras.

28 min: TRY - MURPHY. Manawatu look expansively after winning line-out ball but the Lions' defence holds firm and turns it over up front. The ball is worked out to the right through three pairs of hands, allowing Murphy to cut back inside two Manawatu men to touch down.

27 min: Hodgson misses his touch from the restart and a kicking battle develops between Murphy and Bryant. They both have a couple of kicks before the ball is worked into Hodgson's hands by D'Arcy. The England man finds touch down the right this time.

26 min: CONVERSION - HODGSON. Hodgson converts from in front.

25 min: TRY - SHANE WILLIAMS. There's an indiscretion from the Manawatu men at a ruck and Cusiter taps and goes quickly. Shane Williams is in off his wing and he bumps off the first tackler before spinning in under the posts to score. Great stuff from the Welshman who is underlining his Test claims with an excellent display.

24 min: Bryan Matenga goes from the base and gives Smith enough time to clear into touch.

23 min: Kemp's line-out throw goes adrift and Williams gathers and drives to two or three metres out. But just as he tries to recycle, it goes forward and it'll be a Manawatu put-in.

22 min: Simon Shaw gets good line-out ball for the Lions and they look to get a rolling maul going to suck in the Manawatu defenders. Shaw goes off the back and makes a good five metres, giving Hodgson the chance to pump downfield. It's another fine kick and bobbles into touch just inside the Manawatu 22. Hodgson has started well - but credit to Cusiter too for finding the England man with such accuracy and speed.

21 min: Good line-out ball for Manawatu but Smith allows a pass from Hargreaves to slip through his legs. He recovers admirably and finds a good touch down the right, taking play to the brink of the Lions' 22.

20 min: O'Callaghan is penalised at the line-out, dragging Faleafaga down. Jonathan Hargreaves takes the kick and finds a good touch down the left.

19 min: Bulloch finds Owen at the line-out and the ball is worked to Hodgson, who is the vice-captain tonight. He finds yet another fine touch down the right to continue his fine start. Jonny Wilkinson and Stephen Jones - watching in the stand - will be interested observers.

18 min: Smith kicks into touch, presenting the ball back to the Lions albeit further away from the Manawatu tryline. Bulloch finds his man at the line-out but Tim Faleafaga turns it over after pulling down Robinson and Smith is able to punt the ball into touch, pinning the Lions back.

17 min: The Lions manage to turn the Manawatu scrum and get the put-in. It's a great attacking chance for the Lions but the referee spots an offence from the Lions' front row and awards a free-kick to Manawatu. Looks like John Hayes didn't go in straight.

16 min: Clean and quick line-out ball for the Lions which they work through midfield but Robinson - in off his wing - just can't gather a pass from Ollie Smith which was slightly behind him. Manawatu try to use the ball but it's eventually called back for that knock-on.

15 min: Bulloch and Donnacha O'Callaghan try a 'one two' from the line-out but the hooker is forced over the touchline. Kemp too finds his man at the line-out, allowing Smith to clear into touch down the left. Still a decent attacking chance for the Lions, though, particularly as they are looking dangerous down the short side.

14 min: A poor line-out throw from Kemp evades all in the line-out and bounces kindly into the hands of Martyn Williams. He carries it forward into contact and when the Lions recycle Bevan Gray is caught offside as he closes down Hodgson too quickly. The Lions scent another try and go for touch, which Hodgson finds in the corner.

13 min: The Lions work the restart into Murphy's hands this time and he finds touch with a great kick down the left-hand side. It's a Manawatu line-out on halfway.

12 min: CONVERSION - HODGSON. Hodgson slots over the conversion.

11 min: TRY - CORRY. Kemp attempted to keep it in but the ball was already in touch so he restarts with the line-out. Manawatu work the ball wide to the left but Johnny Leota sees the ball turned over in contact and the Lions break. Sheridan bullocks forward first off the ruck before flicking it wide to Sale team-mate Robinson. He makes another 15m before finding Chris Cuister on the outside. He draws a man and flicks inside to Corry who rumbles over.

10 min: The Lions destroy the Manawatu scrum but Bryan Matenga manages to pick up just as the drive comes and the hosts are able to keep the ball. Smith dinks a kick over the top which forces Murphy back. He steps around one tackler cleverly before pumping downfield and into touch.

9 min: Bulloch misses his primary target at the line-out but Martyn Williams is alert enough to take it with feet on the ground at the back. The Lions recycle it through a couple of phases but then a pass goes forward from Shane Williams and it'll be a Manawatu put-in.

8 min: Kemp picks out his man at the line-out and the ball is quickly worked into the hands of Smith. He finds a good touch down the right to settle his nerves. Line-out Lions just inside their own half.

7 min: Bryant's kick is a poor one and merely presents the Lions with another chance to press forward. Unfortunately they opt to take it down the tight side and are forced out over the touchline.

6 min: Nathan Kemp finds his man at the line-out and look to make some ground up front. The Lions hold firm through two or three phases when Smith opts to kick. It's a poor attempt as he slipped when he struck the ball and the Lions are able to reclaim the ball and work it to Hodgson. He kicks downfield under pressure and forces Frank Bryant back to kick himself.

5 min: Graham Smith restarts but the Lions gather it well this time and it's worked into the hands of Hodgson. He finds a lovely touch down the right, pinning Manawatu back.

5 min: It's a tricky conversion attempt for Hodgson and he just can't drag it around enough to bisect the posts. A good start for the Lions nevertheless.

4 min: TRY - SHANE WILLIAMS. The TMO has given the try. That looks to be a controversial decision and it's no surprise to hear boos ringing around the stadium.

4 min: It appears Williams had a foot in touch when he touched down.

3 min: Gordon Bulloch picks out his man at the line-out which makes a nice change for Lions hookers on this tour. The ball is eventually worked through the midfield and out wide to Robinson thanks to lovely hands from Murphy. The Sale man makes 10 metres or so before flicking it back on the inside. The Lions have an overlap over on the left and work it out there. Shane Williams is the last man and he races for the line. He gets the ball down and the Lions are celebrating but it'll go to the replay.

2 min: Michael Owen goes from the base of the scrum as the Lions look to lay down a marker up front. After a couple of phases the ball is worked to Charlie Hodgson, who kicks downfield. There's a penalty to the Lions, though, with Manawatu having been penalised at the scrum. Hodgson pumps the ball into touch down the left.

1 min: The Lions' poor handling isn't punished as Manawatu knock on up front. Scrum down, the Lions to put in.

0 min: Manawatu get the game under way and there is immediately scrappy handling from the Lions as they scramble for the restart and manage to present possession back to the home side.

Pre-match: Test places are up for grabs in a game in which the Lions should expect the most comfortable victory on tour. Two of the side thumped by the All Blacks in Christchurch - Jason Robinson and Martin Corry - start at Arena Manawatu, while full-back Geordan Murphy, wing Shane Williams and flanker Martyn Williams are among those chasing Test spots. Danny Grewcock's replacement, Wales forward Brent Cockbain, only joined the Lions from Australia on the eve of the game but with resources stretched, he finds himself on the bench. Sir Clive Woodward has not considered Stephen Jones, Dwayne Peel, Gethin Jenkins or Ben Kay for this game because of minor knocks, while centre Gavin Henson rests what Lions management termed "a slight groin strain".
