Result: New Zealand 48 Lions 18.
80 min: The Lions tap and go quickly but the All Blacks repel their attempts to break through. Thomas opts for a kick ahead and is blatantly obstructed as the hooter sounds. Penalty to the Lions in front and they tap and go looking for a late score. The ball is worked out to the left but it comes back on the All Blacks side and when the ball goes dead, it's all over. It's a Test series victory for New Zealand with a game to spare and they have thoroughly deserved it.
80 min: Horgan is definitely over the line but none of the replays show where the ball is so it's no surprise to see the verdict go in favour of the All Blacks. Play will restart with a penalty for offside for the Lions.
80 min: Gallant stuff in defeat from the Lions as they make a break for the All Blacks line. They are over the line but it's not clear if the ball is down. The referee calls time off and it'll go to the video referee to decide.
79 min: Shane Byrne is on for Thompson as Carter leaves the field to a rapturous round of applause from the Wellington public.
78 min: CONVERSION - CARTER. Carter slots over the conversion. He appears to be troubled by a shoulder problem but he's unsurprisingly been named man of the match.
77 min: TRY - McCAW. The All Blacks take it quickly up front and try to rumble for the line. Their first two bursts are held up short but McCaw is unstoppable from less than a metre.
76 min: Carter is inches away from scoring his hat-trick as he gathers a clever kick ahead from Umaga but is held up short. Moody goes in illegally at the ruck and is pinged by referee Cole.
75 min: New Zealand bring Jono Gibbes on for Jack.
74 min: Good line-out ball for the ABs but the Lions turn it over with Corry going in where boots were flying. The ball is worked out to the left but Williams just has a foot in touch as he tries to gather it in so it'll be a New Zealand line-out.
73 min: The ABs are penalised in the front row but it's only a free-kick. Stephen Jones finds touch down the right so it's a New Zealand line-out. Sivivatu makes way, with Nonu finally getting a real chance after his brief appearance earlier. Martin Corry is on for Donnacha O'Callaghan in the Lions' scrum, while Derren Witcombe has replaced Mealamu.
72 min: Lauaki gathers the restart and flicks it inside before getting it back from Carter. He bullocks down the right flank with the Lions rocking and rolling. The ball is recycled and worked out to tleft where Muliaina, Carter and Umaga link up. The fly-half bursts for the line but is hauled over the touchline. He's knocked on before getting pulled out so it's a Lions scrum.
71 min: CONVERSION - CARTER. Carter slots the conversion as Henson makes way for Shane Horgan. There has been much hype about the Welshman on this tour but he has struggled here.
70 min: TRY - CARTER. Robinson does superbly to recover after tripping to gather a kick ahead but he's isolated and the All Blacks are quickly on top of him to rip the ball back on their side. They've got a huge overlap on the left and work it out there. Carter skips back on the inside of Lewsey and goes over. This has been a performance out of the top drawer from Carter.
69 min: White is back into the Lions' front row after returning from the blood bin. Rowntree stays on so it is Jenkins who makes way.
69 min: The restart is gathered in by Easterby and worked to Stephen Jones but he fails to find his touch with a big kick downfield. A pile-up ensues in midfield and it'll be a New Zealand put-in at the scrum.
68 min: Stephen Jones' conversion is wide to the right and short.
67 min: TRY - EASTERBY. The video referee has awarded the try.
66 min: Thompson finds his man at the line-out and the Lions look to rumble towards the New Zealand line. The ball is flicked out to Easterby by Peel and the big flanker goes for the corner. He's got the ball down over the line but has he been forced out? It's going to the replay.
66 min: Justin Marshall and Sione Lauaki replace Kelleher and Collins.
65 min: The Lions' attack finally falters 10m from the New Zealand line but the touch judge is on. Collins has been penalised for a late hit on Stephen Jones after he released the ball. The Welshman picks himself up and finds touch down the left after Collins is lectured.
64 min: Ryan Jones taps and goes from the free-kick and the Lions look to get some go-forward. They recycle it well through four or five phases to get inside the All Blacks 22 before Peel has a snipe to take it another 10m on. It's slow ball though and the ABs are well organised.
63 min: Free-kick to the Lions as New Zealand transgress in the front row.
62 min: Thompson again finds his man at the line-out but it's held up in midfield again. This time the Lions get the put-in thanks to Thomas' strength.
61 min: New Zealand gather the restart but it's turned over in contact and the ABs transgress as they try to scrape it back at the ruck. Stephen Jones finds touch down the left.
60 min: PENALTY - CARTER. While Wilkinson goes off to be replaced by Stephen Jones, his counterpart in the All Blacks No 10 shirt slots over the penalty to extend the ABs' lead.
59 min: Thompson finds his man initially but the dab down goes to the All Blacks. They also kick ahead through Carter but Jones gathers and powers towards the New Zealand half. He's left isolated by his run, though, and it's a New Zealand penalty. Wilkinson is down again and this time it looks terminal. He's put in two huge tackles lately and they appear to have taken their toll.
58 min: Thompson again finds his man at the line-out - a much improved facet of the Lions' game - but the ball is wastefully kicked ahead by Wilkinson. The All Blacks work it to Carter and he pumps the ball deep into Lions territory with a huge kick down the left.
57 min: The All Blacks get a huge shove on from the scrum and Jones has to go from the base. He takes it into contact where Collins fails to roll away. Penalty to the Lions and Wilkinson finds touch.
57 min: Graham Rowntree is into the fray for the Lions with White into the blood bin.
57 min: New Zealand look to have won the ball against the head but the referee rules the scrum should be reset with the Lions having the put-in again.
56 min: New Zealand get good line-out ball and work it out wide to MacDonald. He makes ground into the Lions' half and again it's great ball retention from the ABs through multiple phases. The Lions' defence is again strong and they get their reward as Kelleher knocks on.
55 min: White is pinged for not driving straight at the scrum and Carter pumps the ball into touch down the left.
54 min: Thompson finds his man at the line-out and the Lions make some good progress up front initially. It's in midfield that the move breaks down yet again as Williams is held up and New Zealand get the put-in at the scrum.
53 min: Play restarts with a Lions put-in at the scrum, which is quickly converted into a penalty. Wilkinson finds touch down the left and it's another chance for the Lions.
52 min: White appeared to stamp on Kelleher's arm during the ruck there.
51 min: The Lions get to the AB 10m line when play is held up. White and Woodcock exchange blows when play breaks down but they escape with only a ticking-off from referee Cole.
50 min: Scrappy line-out ball from the Lions but Kelleher tidies it up superbly and Jerry Collins makes a quick five metres. Carter kicks ahead but Williams gathers and makes five metres back with Lewsey doing likewise a phase later. Thompson then bullocks into the AB half as the Lions make encouraging progress.
49 min: Thompson again finds his man at the line-out but when it's worked out into the backs Henson's pass to Williams gives Gear the chance to take man and ball and he needs no second invitation. The ball is recycled but Williams receives a second huge hit when he regains the ball and this time he knocks on.
48 min: Attacking intentions from the Lions as Wilkinson dabs it into touch down the right.
47 min: Easterby takes the line-out and the Lions get the shove on up front. The penalty comes as the maul is pulled down illegally. A chance for the Lions to turn the screw here.
46 min: Kelleher works it into Carter's hands and he kicks ahead. Sivivatu chases it down as Lewsey tries to gather but MacDonald has gone too early. Wilkinson pumps the ball into touch down the right, taking play into the AB 22.
45 min: New Zealand work the restart into the hands of Ali Williams and he kicks ahead. Lewsey gobbles it up on halfway and the Lions, as dispirited as they are, look to press forward. Lewsey is taken down and the All Blacks get the verdict as a scrum is awarded.
44 min: CONVERSION - CARTER. Carter slots over the conversion from out wide.
43 min: TRY - CARTER. Wilkinson goes for a long restart which gives Moody no chance to chase down. The All Blacks work the ball to Carter but the Lions have gone too quickly and the All Blacks can bring it clear. Umaga and Carter link up well to take play to the Lions 10m line before it's recycled through a couple of phases up front. Carter then bursts down the right wing onto a well-timed So'oialo flick pass, dabs the ball ahead and wins the foot race with Lewsey to score.
42 min: PENALTY - CARTER. Carter slots over the penalty.
41 min: Penalty to the All Blacks as White is penalised at the ruck for coming in from the wrong side. That's enough of a worry for the Lions but Wilkinson is down in backplay after putting in a huge hit on Rodney So'oialo. He clambers back to his feet gingerly and continues.
40 min: Carter restarts play and it comes back on the New Zealand side after some poor restart work from the Lions.
HT: New Zealand 21 Lions 13.
40 min: Wilkinson kicks the ball int touch down the left to end the half. It's been a cracking half of rugby. The Lions are playing far better than they did last week but still trail by eight points, showing just how well the All Blacks are performing.
40 min: There's no let-up for the Lions as New Zealand show their ball retention skills. Credit to the Lions, though, their defence looks strong and it is the ABs who are penalised as McCaw holds on in the tackle. Umaga is unhappy but Julian White shoves him away as the hooter sounds.
39 min: Good line-out ball for the All Blacks and it's worked out quickly to the left where Sivivatu takes a tackle. It's recycled and immediately worked to the right as the ABs use the full width of the pitch.
38 min: Ma'a Nonu is on for the All Blacks, with Mauger hobbling off. Seconds later, Nonu leaves the field as Leon MacDonald comes on instead as the wrong number was held up initially!
38 min: Thompson finds O'Connell in the line-out and the Lions look to get a rumble on up front. They make a couple of yards before Peel emulates Kelleher by making 40 or so metres for the Lions with a clever kick down the left.
37 min: The Lions disrupt the line-out and it skips out at the back. Thompson hacks ahead but it's in the hands of Sivivatu. The Lions get to him before he can get the afterburners on and force him to recycle. Poor kicks from both sides return the ball to the ABs before Kelleher chips a lovely kick over the top of the ruck down the right into the Lions' 22.
36 min: Thompson and Peel try to work a move at the front of the line-out but the throw from Thompson doesn't go five metres. The All Blacks are scenting blood now and it's no surprise to see Kelleher get the ball moving quickly. It's worked out to Mauger and his dabbed kick ahead forces Lewsey to take it out over the touchline. AB line-out just outside the Lions 22.
35 min: The ball is worked into the hands of Carter and he finds a good touch down the right.
34 min: Carter fails to slot over the conversion.
33 min: TRY - SIVIVATU. The All Blacks work a training ground routine through their backs and a couple of offloads help them get it to Sivivatu on the wing. He is 10m out and has two men to deal with but powers over for the try. That's the perfect display of the big man's finishing.
32 min: McCaw is first to the restart and gathers well. It's quickly worked out to the right where the ABs look to suck in the Lions' forwards. Kelleher goes on a great burst on the short side past Williams. Thomas drags him down a metre out when a pile-up ensues. The Lions are furious as Kelleher appeared to be holding on when the referee awarded the put-in to the ABs.
31 min: PENALTY - WILKINSON. Wilkinson slots over the penalty.
30 min: Carter pumps the restart downfield but Lewsey gathers well and chips ahead, gathering his own kick superbly. The penalty comes to the Lions as the All Blacks are penalised at the ruck and Wilkinson is going for the posts. It's bang in front from 42m out.
29 min: Great chasing from the Lions as they turn the restart ball over. It's worked quickly to Wilkinson and he attempts a snap drop-goal but it's always going wide.
29 min: PENALTY - CARTER. Carter slots over the penalty. Soft from the Lions.
28 min: Sloppy hands at the restart again, this time from O'Connell. The All Blacks look to have turned it over but they can't get it out quickly as Thomas is lying on the wrong side. Penalty to the All Blacks just outside the 22 and it's eminently kickable. That's poor from the Lions. Having pulled themselves back to within three points, they have now present the ABs with the chance to double that lead.
27 min: PENALTY - WILKINSON. Wilkinson slots over the penalty from out wide.
26 min: Mauger comes through the ruck from the side and referee Andrew Cole signals the advantage to the Lions. The ball is worked to Wilkinson and he uses the 'free kick' to attempt a drop goal which sails wide. It's a penalty to the Lions just outside the 22.
25 min: Thompson finds his man at the line-out but O'Connell knocks on as he anticipates contact from McCaw. The Lions manage to win the scrum against the head, though, and suddenly their spirits are lifted. It's worked out to the right first before coming back through midfield out to the left where Thompson takes play into the New Zealand 22.
24 min: O'Connell goes up for the line-out ball but he's dragged down illegally by the All Blacks. Just before that line-out TV replays showed a couple of incidents of foul play from the All Blacks which have angered the Lions. It's therefore no surprise to see tempers fray after the line-out with nearly all the players on the field involved. The referee has seen nothing untoward and play will resume with Wilkinson pumping into touch from the penalty.
23 min: Thompson again goes over the top of the line-out and finds Jones. The All Blacks are penalised as McCaw goes too quickly to chase down Wilkinson after the ball is worked into his hands. Wilkinson finds touch down the left with a good kick.
22 min: Quick line-out ball for the ABs and they begin to probe the Lions' defence again. After a couple of phases up front Carter opts for a 'Lions-esque' crossfield kick but it skips out of play. Gear and Williams were chasing it down, with the Welshman favourite.
21 min: The restart is worked into Aaron Mauger's hands but his kick downfield is awful. Robinson picks up but he too puts in a poor kick. Muliaina pings the ball downfield in a far more useful manner and Peel has to find a conservative touch.
20 min: CONVERSION - CARTER. Carter settles himself after playing a huge role in Umaga's try and coolly slots over the conversion.
19 min: TRY - UMAGA. Thompson finds his man at the line-out and the ball is worked through the Lions backs but Thomas is crunched in possession and coughs up possession. The All Blacks turn defence into attack in the blink of an eye as Carter skips away from Henson to break down the left flank. He draws the last man before flicking to Umaga and there's no-one to stop the New Zealand captain from emulating his Lions counterpart.
18 min: Moody puts in a huge hit on McCaw after chasing down Wilkinson's restart kick. The ball is worked to Carter but he's under real pressure and slices his kick a little. It's still found touch but only just outside the New Zealand 22.
18 min: McCaw is back on having had his head bandaged.
17 min: PENALTY - CARTER. Carter cuts the Lions' advantage to just one point.
16 min: McCaw is heading for the touchline with blood coming from a head wound.
15 min: Thompson goes over the top of the line-out to Jones, who takes it into contact. Peel finds Wilkinson and he pumps into touch down the left. The ABs take the line-out quickly and McCaw makes a half-break up front before off-loading. It's recycled through four or five phases before Thompson is adjudged to have come in from the side. He looks mystified but it's surely a gimme for Carter from around 10m out.
14 min: Kelleher quickly brings his backs into play and it's worked out to Gear who scents the chance to get in around Henson but the Welshman puts in a huge hit to take the New Zealander over the touchline. Pressure on Thompson here though.
13 min: New Zealand work the ball quickly to Carter from the scrum and he chips a lovely kick forwards. Robinson gathers and jinks inside his man cleverly but Peel loses the ball after picking it off the back of the ruck and the ABs get the put-in around 10m from the Lions line.
12 min: New Zealand try to turn the Lions' scrum and Jones has to go off the back but a pile-up ensues again and this time the verdict goes the way of the All Blacks.
11 min: The Lions steal All Black line-out ball with Thompson of all people gathering at the back of the line. A pile-up ensues but it'll be a Lions put-in.
10 min: The All Blacks gather the restart in but Muliaina opts to chip ahead and Williams gathers well. He then tries to offload and there appears to be a knock-on from Lewsey but the referee doesn't pick it up. Thomas then carries it into contact but he is isolated and holds on. Penalty to the ABs and Carter pumps it into touch down the right.
9 min: That all went back to O'Connell's indiscipline right at the other end of the field. Hopefully the lesson will have been learnt.
8 min: PENALTY - CARTER. Carter puts the All Blacks on the board with a cool kick.
7 min: Lewsey gets back to the ball and kicks ahead but he too fails to find touch. Mils Muliaina carries it forward into contact before working it back to Carter. His kick over the top is touched down in goal by Williams but play is called back as Jones was offside in back play.
6 min: Keven Mealamu finds Chris Jack at the line-out. The ball is flicked out to Dan Carter and he pumps a huge kick downfield which forces Lewsey to track back.
5 min: Wilkinson's penalty looks good when it leaves his boot but it slips away to the left and strikes the post. The All Blacks fail to secure the ball as it bounces down and it looks like coming back onto the Lions' side until Paul O'Connell dives over the top of the ruck recklessly. That's stupid from the big Irishman and allows the ABs to find touch down the right and settle their early nerves.
4 min: Jones gathers the restart and takes the contact. The ball is worked to Peel and he bursts through the first line of the All Blacks' defence to make ground right into their half. He flicks it back just behind Moody but the England man gathers. Again it's recycled quickly and effectively and Peel goes around the fringes. The ABs are rocking and Greg Somerville comes in from the side to halt the attack. Penalty to the Lions. What a start!
3 min: CONVERSION - WILKINSON. It's a routine conversion for Wilkinson from in front.
2 min: TRY - THOMAS. The Lions get the shove on and work it out to the left where captain Thomas powers into the All Blacks 22. It's recycled quickly and effectively and Peel goes from the back of the ruck. He's swallowed up by the All Blacks so Wilkinson comes in to acting fly-half. He flicks the ball into the hands of Thomas and he arcs past two or three tacklers to score under the posts. A captain's try from Thomas and an incredible start for the Lions.
1 min: Richie McCaw kocks the restart on under huge pressure from Moody, who chased it down in trademark fashion. The Lions get the first put-in at the scrum. Early days, but a much better start for the Lions than last week.
0 min: The Lions get the game under way with Wilkinson hoisting the first kick skywards.
Pre-match: The Lions have opted not to send their captain and youngest player forwards to accept the challenge of the Haka this week and stand in a line facing up to the All Blacks.
Pre-match: There is no hiding place for Sir Clive Woodward's Lions as they face a make-or-break second Test mission at the Westpac Stadium. Defeat will consign the most expensive tour in Lions history to the scrap heap, following last weekend's 21-3 loss against a vastly-superior New Zealand side in Christchurch. And the All Blacks are determined to finish their opponents off one game inside the distance, rendering next Saturday's Auckland encounter a meaningless affair. Woodward has reacted to the Chirstchurch shocker by drafting in seven new faces - Gavin Henson, Shane Williams, Steve Thompson, Donncha O'Callaghan, Simon Easterby, Lewis Moody and Ryan Jones. And there were four positional switches behind the scrum. Jonny Wilkinson reverts to fly-half, new skipper Gareth Thomas lines up at outside centre and full-back Josh Lewsey moves from wing duties, swapping roles with Jason Robinson. It represents radical surgery by England's World Cup-winning coach, but he has no other option as the Lions look to regain pride and self-esteem on a ground where England famously beat New Zealand two years ago. This game has an under-current bubbling through it, with the All Blacks furious over a Lions propaganda war aimed at their captain Tana Umaga. Woodward and his management team were furious that Umaga was not cited over an alleged spear tackle during the first Test which put skipper Brian O'Driscoll out of the tour, nursing a dislocated right shoulder. And such a background suggested the opening exchanges could be lively, to say the least, with both sides incredibly fired up. New Zealand make four changes from last weekend, calling up full-back Mils Muliaina, wing Rico Gear and scrum-half Byron Kelleher, while prop Greg Somerville replaces Carl Hayman, who is out because of an infected toe.
