Easterby missed out on the original Lions squad but was called up as a replacement for Lawrence Dallaglio after the Englishman fractured his right ankle in the opening tour match against Bay of Plenty.
The Llanelli Scarlets captain was born in Harrogate but, along with scrum-half brother and club team-mate Guy, plays for Ireland.
First capped against Scotland five years ago, Easterby has become a firm favourite of coach Eddie O'Sullivan and made 42 appearances in the green jersey.
His greatest strength is a phenomenal workrate which often goes unnoticed in a strong Irish pack.
Easterby's late arrival clearly points to his status down the pecking order but he will doubtless get the chance to stake his claim.
And the blind-side flanker has pledged to give his all to impress Sir Clive Woodward, saying: "I am relishing the chance to be involved and cannot wait to get out and join the lads in what will be a challenging tour." |
