Luke Swain scored a late try as Salford stunned engage Super League play-off chasers Harlequins at The Stoop.
The visitors looked dead and buried when they trailed by eight points with five minutes to go, only for two late scores to turn the game on its head.
Both sides adopted a safety-first approach from the kick-off, opting to complete their sets and kick for position rather than show any ambition.
And after a sterile opening quarter of an hour, it was predictably a mistake that led to the first score, Jon Wells fumbling Stefan Ratchford's kick through allowing John Wilshere to pounce and give Salford the lead.
Quins were briefly stung into life, and two tries in five minutes saw them gain the advantage.
Firstly, after the Reds had been penalised for offside close to their line, Luke Gale freed Luke Dorn to bustle over and minutes later - after Daniel Heckenberg had been held just short - Chad Randall burrowed over.
But Quins were lacklustre and they were punished when Salford struck twice close to the interval to retake the lead.
On 34 minutes Robbie Paul dummied the entire defence to squeeze Wilshere in the corner, and just before the hooter Dorn's telegraphed pass was snaffled by Dean McGilvray who raced the length of the field to score.
The game really opened up after the break, and the hosts took advantage when Rob Purdham ran a neat angle to stroll over.
Salford were having plenty of possession but the Quins defence were in determined mood, and the game remained on a knife-edge for the majority of the half.
The hosts looked to have sealed victory when Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook broke tackles on halfway and raced through to score near the sticks.
But Salford had other ideas, with first Stephen Nash and then Swain crossing in the dying seconds to steal victory.
