Jerome Guisset's two tries ensured Catalans Dragons recorded only their second engage Super League victory of the season, at the expense of inconsistent Harlequins.

The France captain punished an error-ridden Quins performance with a try in each half, while Casey McGuire, Clint Greenshields and Olivier Elima also scored for the Dragons.

Quins - who bowed out of the Carnegie Challenge Cup to Huddersfield Giants last weekend - struggled to get into the game and despite a late charge, tries from Matt Gardner, Jason Golden, Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook and Chris Melling were not enough.

Visitors Catalans were on the back foot early on as full-back Melling almost wriggled through the defence.

Harlequins dominated the early stages but shot themselves in the foot after 10 minutes when the ball slipped out of wing Will Sharp's hands to allow McGuire to touch down unopposed underneath the posts.

Brian McDermott's men hit back courtesy of a debut try by Gardner after Dimitri Pelo had failed to collect a high ball.

But Guisset restored the Dragons' lead midway through the half as he bundled his way over from close range and Thomas Bosc converted for a 12-6 lead.

It was one-way traffic before half-time and full-back Greenshields ensured the visitors took a 16-6 lead into the interval after he danced his way through the leaky Quins defence and scored in the corner.

And there was more of the same from Catalans after the break as second-rower Elima muscled his way over the line in the 50th minute to extend the French side's lead to 16 points.

Quins were not without chances as Melling made a clean break through the Catalans rearguard but could not find stand-off Luke Dorn with his pass.

McDermott's troops did reduce the deficit on the hour mark when a sweeping Quins move resulted in second-rower Golden bagging his second try of the campaign.

Guisset's second try of the evening late on confirmed a miserable night for Quins before McCarthy-Scarsbrook and Melling grabbed late consolations to add respectability to the scoreline.
