Under-strength Super League champions Leeds Rhinos pulled off a 12-10 win over Salford in their challenge match in Jacksonville.
The Rhinos trailed 10-0 after only 10 minutes when Salford ran in tries through new signings Rob Parker and Willie Talau and a goal from John Wilshere.
Dane Manning pulled a try back for the Yorkshiremen before half-time and further touchdowns in the final quarter from Ryan Hall and Ashley Gibson enabled the champions to snatch victory.
Leeds went into the game with just 16 players after the England quartet of Keith Senior, Lee Smith, Danny McGuire and Kevin Sinfield all dropped out late on, joining long-term casualties Matt Diskin and Danny Buderus on the sidelines.
