Twice Hull KR saw a 12-point lead slip away in a thriller watched by 7,101 fans at a sunny Craven Park, but they managed to hang on for a dramatic draw.
The home side were under pressure right from the start when Garrett Crossman knocked on in in the second tackle and from the play which followed Steve Snitch was held up over the line.
But it was Rovers who took a third-minute lead when Jake Webster touched down for a try converted by Paul Cooke.
The Giants roared back, forcing Rovers to defend two goal-line drop-outs and 18 tackles.
Rovers extended their lead in the 17th minute after the Giants were penalised for dissent and Jake Webster sent in Daniel Fitzhenry with Cooke converting from the left touchline.
Rovers were caught napping in the 23rd minute as George Gatis went in from dummy half with Chris Thorman adding the extras.
Four minutes later Cooke and Shaun Briscoe combined to send in Chev Walker. Cooke again converted.
Rovers had loose-forward Scott Murrell stretchered off on 31 minutes after a tackle on the Giants giant Eorl Crabtree.
Ryan Hudson sent in Thorman on 37 minutes and Thorman converted to make it 18-12 to Rovers at the break.
Ben Cockayne lost possession on 45 minutes and Rovers paid dearly as Paul Whatuira zoomed in to score with Thorman's conversion levelling the scores.
On the hour Rod Jensen homed in on a Luke Robinson kick to give Huddersfield the lead for the first time with Thorman landing his fourth conversion.
But on 65 minutes Rovers squared things with Fitzhenry's second try, converted by Cooke.
