Surprise package Harlequins kept the pressure on leaders Leeds and St Helens as they extended their winning run to four matches with a dominant display against Huddersfield at The Stoop.

Huddersfield arrived on the back of successive wins but found Quins in outstanding form and had no answer to Danny Orr, who had a hand in three of the hosts' four tries.

Quins were in front in the fifth minute.

Giants prop Keith Mason was penalised for a high shot on Orr - and from the penalty, Quins gave themselves a great platform on the right.

They managed to gain a repeat set of six - and the pressure told when, after good interplay between Matt Gafa and Orr, Chad Randall bundled his way over from dummy-half.

Henry Paul added the two extra points, but the Giants came within inches of levelling inside a minute.

Orr dropped the kick-off - and from the scrum, Luke Robinson and Kevin Brown combined to free Stephen Wild. But he was tackled a yard short of the line.

Quins extended their lead in the 20th minute when Rod Jensen fumbled Mark McLinden's kick - and from the resulting scrum, Rob Purdham and Orr created an opening for David Howell to crash over.

Paul missed the conversion but added a penalty on the stroke of half-time to send Quins in 12-0 at the break.

The influential Paul did not reappear for the second period, but that did not knock Quins out of their stride.

McLinden moved to stand-off from full-back and played his part in his team's third try on the hour.

Giants winger Shane Elford spilt McLinden's bomb on his own line - and from the resulting set of six, Orr worked the ball right for McLinden to skip round Paul Whatuira before putting over Rikki Sheriffe.

Purdham converted, and the points were in the bag when substitute Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook grabbed a fourth try in the dying minutes.

The highly-rated forward was sent clear by Purdham from 15 yards to touch down next to the posts.

Purdham added the extras to complete a comfortable win.
