Peter Fox registered a debut hat-trick as a new-look Hull KR line-up saw off the challenge of Castleford at Craven Park.
Rovers paraded eight newcomers in their only pre-season friendly, and apart from the inclusion of Shaun Briscoe - who had moved across the city from Hull FC - it was winger Fox who caught the eye along with centre Jake Webster.
Hull had two tries disallowed in two minutes when Craig Fitzhenry's ninth-minute effort was chalked off for a forward pass while a minute later Ben Cockayne stepped into touch on his way to the line in a move started by a glorious 80m run from Briscoe.
But Chris Chester and new boy Jake Webster combined to send in Scott Murrell on 12 minutes for a try which the scorer converted.
Michael Shenton was alert to a kick-through on 14 minutes to open Castleford's account with an unconverted try and then on 29 minutes they took the lead when Stuart Donlan touched down with Joe Westerman converting for a 10-6 lead which they held until the break.
After 65 minutes Fox raced 65 metres to score with Chris Chester converting to put Rovers back ahead.
On 72 minutes Webster produced a stunning off-load to send in Fox for his second try but Webster's conversion attempt was wide.
Four minutes later Fox claimed a debut hat-trick thanks to a superb long pass from Kirk Netherton with Webster adding the conversion.
