International duo Matt King and Louis Anderson both made try-scoring debuts as Warrington cantered to victory over Wigan in Lee Briers testimonial match.

New Zealand Test forward Anderson, playing alongside older brother Vinnie for the first time since they were both with the Warriors in Auckland, was both hero and villain on his first appearance for his new club.

He scored the game's first try after five minutes but was sent to the sin bin on the stroke of half-time for flattening Wigan's former Australia Test stand-off Trent Barrett with a late tackle.

Wigan got the score back to 18-12 during Anderson's temporary absence thanks to Joel Tomkin's converted try. But the Wolves started and finished the stronger side to claim a morale-boosting victory before the new season.

Two of Warrington's other close-season signings, King and Michael Monaghan, also made their mark in front of a crowd of 6,534 at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

The 6ft 3in King, the most high-profile recruit for Super League XIII, almost scored with his first touch after the first of a series of powerful runs and eventually got over the line in trademark fashion in the second half, winning an aerial duel with Wigan's Liam Colbon to touch down a high kick by Briers.

Monaghan, a member of the Manly side beaten by King's Melbourne Storm in last October's NRL Grand Final, produced some neat touches before limping off 14 minutes into the second half.

Warrington, who had seven of their likely regular squad members missing through injury, also had the encouragement of former Wigan three-quarter Paul Johnson making a useful comeback from a six-month lay-off with a neck injury.

Briers finished his testimonial match with 14 points from a try and five conversions - while Andy Bracek and Simon Grix claimed Warrington's other tries.

Wigan, who had Andy Coley making his first appearance, trailed 18-0 after 27 minutes but hit back to score tries through Thomas Leuluai, Joel Tomkins, Paul Prescott and Darrell Goulding - with Pat Richards kicking three goals.
