A second-half comeback and 26 unanswered points from Huddersfield enabled Huddersfield to gatecrash Paul King's testimonial game and condemn Hull to defeat in their pre-season friendly at the KC Stadium.
Hull had led their engage Super League rivals 16-0 at one point and appeared to be in a position of some dominance, but a run of four Huddersfield tries in a 15-minute spell punctuated only by the break turned the game on its' head.
Jon Sharp's side went on to post six tries in total in a fine second-half showing, which had looked unlikely after Hull bossed the opening half.
King, who has made 203 appearances for his hometown club, captained Hull but was a quiet performer, despite his side outscoring their visitors by three tries to one in the opening 40 minutes.
Two of the scores came from Todd Byrne, one of three Australian imports making their home debut for Hull.
Byrne scored in Hull's 66-22 win at Dewsbury last week and he was on the mark here too, opening the scoring on 15 minutes after Shaun Berrigan and Craig Hall combined to send him in at the corner.
His second score was a replica of the first and came after Danny Tickle had improved Hull's lead when he crashed over following a superb bullet pass from Adam Dykes.
Berrigan and Dykes are Peter Sharp's highest profile signings of the off-season and were a cut above everyone else on the field for the opening half.
But Berrigan, who had suffered from a chest infection for most of the week, was taken off after 35 minutes and from there Huddersfield began to run the show.
Shane Elford stole a try just seconds shy of the interval hooter when he spun past Gareth Raynor to make the most of Luke Robinson's pass and Rod Jensen reduced the deficit further a minute after the break when he intercepted a Motu Tony pass to race the length of the field.
Their revival was now well under way and was complete 10 minutes later when Kevin Brown made light work of dodging Tommy Lee's tackle to dive over from close range.
Robinson quickly registered a try of his own when he turned Tony inside out to score after a fine break from Elford and, to underline their dominance, Huddersfield scored again on the hour mark when Jensen outpaced Hall from George Gatis' pass to secure his brace.
Hall soon made amends when he scored at the other end following a neat pass from the ground from King, but Huddersfield had the last word when Jensen completed his hat-trick in the final minute.
