Wigan's Trent Barrett scored two second-half tries as Harlequins threw away a half-time lead for the second home game running.

Quins led 16-8 at the break but Barrett's double drew Wigan level - and the visitors would have won this engage Super League match if Pat Richards had been on form with the boot.

Brian McDermott's men led by a similar margin in their last home game against Leeds before eventually losing 54-20 and have now not won for five consecutive games.

Quins were missing their leading tryscorer Paul Sykes but Mark McLinden more than made up for his absence by providing the game's opening try in the 14th minute.

The full-back set off on a mazy run from his own half before providing Matt Gafa with a simple score.

Henry Paul kicked the extras to take the home side clear of Richards' first-minute penalty for Wigan.

Five minutes later the home side extended their lead when Scott Hill touched down after being put through by Chad Randall.

Wigan struck back as Gareth Hock charged down Danny Orr's kick to allow Thomas Leuluai to score against his former club.

But McLinden had the final word of the first half with a brilliant solo try to put Quins well ahead at the break.

And home fans' nerves were fraying when five minutes Barrett went over in the corner after sustained Wigan pressure.

Richards missed the conversion and in the 53rd minute McLinden had a try disallowed for obstruction.

Wigan then drew level a minute later when Shane Millard set up Barrett for a wonderful solo try.

Richards again failed to add the extras and missed two drop goal attempts which would have won the game for the visitors.
