Hull KR will be looking anxiously over their shoulders after suffering a five-try engage Super League hammering at the hands of Harlequins.

Paul Sykes successfully kicked six goals for Quins as Brian McDermott's injury-hit squad bounced back from last week's shock loss to Salford.

Rovers opened the scoring in the seventh minute with a 20-yard penalty from stand-off Paul Cooke, which rattled off the post before dropping through.

But Quins bounced back instantaneously and, after a lengthy spell of possession, full-back Michael Worrincy hauled himself over from five yards out to score in the 10th minute, with Sykes converting.

Just three minutes later, the visitors stormed down the field and, after breaking numerous Quins tackles, tied the game when prop forward Ryan Tandy dived over.

Centre Tyrone Smith gave Quins the lead once more with a try but, yet again, Rovers forced their way back into the game when full-back Mark Lennon stormed over after a 20-yard drive to tie the game.

Quins went into the break ahead after stand-off Henry Paul broke through the Rovers line for a solo run, before hooker Chad Randall received a pass which he nearly fumbled before diving beneath the posts.

Quins jumped on the visitors early in the second half and were rewarded in the 48th minute when centre Sykes converted a long-range penalty to give McDermott's men an eight-point lead.

But again Justin Morgan's Rovers showed their fighting spirit, with loose forward Chris Chester finding a hole in the Quins line to score in the 60th minute to reduce the arrears to just two points.

Four minutes later and Harlequins scored again as Matt Gafa crossed the line for a try, with Sykes again converting.

Quins stepped up their defence in the dying minutes and left wing Rikki Sheriffe was particularly instrumental, making a number of crucial tackles and a great interception as the visitors pressed.

Harlequins' Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook capped off a fine home win, scoring in the final seconds to break Rovers' hearts and leave them too close for comfort to the Super League drop zone.
