Catalans Dragons recorded their biggest ever win to move further clear of the bottom of the engage Super League with a 66-6 victory over Salford City Reds in Perpignan.

The win moves Michael Potter's men into sixth after running in 12 tries for their first league win in three games, plunging the Reds into deeper trouble at the foot of the table.

While it was easy to see why the Reds were propping up the Super League table, it was hard at times to believe how the Dragons kicked off just a place above them such was the quality of their play.

Reds hooker David Berthezene, on a season-long loan from the Catalans, returned to the side after being given the all-clear to face his parent club but the Frenchman was unable to use any inside knowledge to stifle the Dragons.

The Dragons welcomed back second rower Andrew Bentley and Luke Quigley, who was cup-tied last week, with Vincent Duport and Lionel Teixido dropping out.

The game was settled well before half-time with Adam Mogg scoring a first-half hat-trick to put the French side into a 38-0 half-time lead over their English opponents.

Just three minutes had passed when Mogg went over for Dragons' first try before Justin Murphy extended the lead four minutes later, with Thomas Bosc kicking the conversion.

Soon Mogg had added his second of the game to put the home side firmly in control and Cyril Gossard opened his account for the evening in the 15th minute - the try converted by Bosc.

Three minutes later the Frenchman powered home for a try of his own and again made no mistake with the kick as the Catalans built up an insurmountable lead.

The Dragons opened up Salford's defence at will and by the 21st minute Bosc was celebrating his second try of the game after another flowing move.

Casey Maguire got his name on the scoresheet in the 27th minute and four minutes later the Australian had his second of the game before Mogg added his third.

Second rower Djamel Fakir, who had been out for six months after undergoing kneecap surgery, was introduced to the game in the 36th minute for Gossard.

The visitors finally got some points on the board in the second half with Luke Dorn going over for his seventh try of the season in the 53rd minute, with John Wilshere kicking the conversion.

But the fightback was to end there as Jerome Guisset went over in the 63rd minute before Murphy added two more shortly after to seal the rout.

Bosc kicked his eighth and ninth conversions of the evening to complete the victory - their biggest win since defeating Castleford 51-14 in April last year.
