Disjointed Wakefield chalked up a comfortable win in the Carnegie Challenge Cup fourth round over outclassed but determined National League Two opposition.

A cup upset was never likely as Wildcats scored 11 tries in total - six in the second half going to Brett Ferres, Kevin Henderson (two), Aaron Murphy on his debut, Ben Jeffries and Austin Buchanan.

It was a dismal half for goal-kickers as well, though Paul March did redeem himself with a hat-trick of conversions to close the game.

Five first-half tries to one was a fair reflection of an error-strewn opening 40 minutes at Belle Vue.

Wildcats gave away far too much possession through spilled ball and that produced the try of the half for Skolars.

Direct from a scrum, Skolars' loose forward Jermaine Coleman kicked through and centre Chris Shears raced on to pick up and score to level at four apiece.

But Wildcats struck three times in seven minutes, with tries for Waine Pryce, Jason Golden and March, to gain the upper hand.

Ned Catic touched down on 33 minutes with Ferres landing the only conversion of the half to give Wakefield a 22-4 interval lead.

Winger Peter Fox had opened Wildcats' try account in the fifth minute.
