High-flying Hull KR came back down to earth with a bump as they failed to deal with a determined Harlequins side.

The Robins recorded two wins in a row to make an impressive start to their career in the engage Super League.

But the defence which had looked rock steady in their opening two top flight games fell short of the standard set by coach Justin Morgan - and they paid the price.

A knock on in the first minute by Mark O'Neill proved costly as Harlequins full-back Chris Melling came into the line to touchdown with Paul Sykes adding the conversion.

From the restart Harlequins knocked on and Iain Morrison thundered to within inches of the visitors' line but two more tries in six minutes from the Quins had Rovers rocking.

In the 17th minute Jon Grayshon scattered several defenders before touching down from a Danny Orr pass.

And Julien Rinaldi carved out another opening for Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook in the 23rd minute - Sykes converted both.

Rovers scored on the half hour when Luke Dyer touched down but Gareth Morton's conversion drifted agonisingly wide.

Two minutes before the break Paul Sykes increased the Londoners' lead but the centre was off the mark with the conversion.

The second half started more brightly when Michael Smith forced his way over the line to score on 42 minutes with Morton converting.

Just after the hour a break by James Webster looked promising for the home side - but his final pass went astray.

With 10 minutes left Rovers forced Quins into a drop out from under the posts following some determined work from Ben Fisher and a kick from Scott Murrell.

But Dyer knocked on from the kick to hand possession back to the visitors.

And with eight minutes to go Sykes wrapped the match up with a second try - but his conversion attempt was wide.
