Castleford took a huge stride towards engage Super League safety with a nine-try destruction of ailing Warrington at The Jungle.

Peter Lupton revelled in the switch from half-back to loose forward, scoring two tries as the Tigers sent the Wolves crashing to a fourth straight defeat to cast further doubts over their top-six pedigree.

An entertaining game spilled over in the second half in a crazy three-minute spell that saw three players sin-binned, two for fighting, and two others sent off after another scrap.

The Tigers made a storming start with three tries in the opening 12 minutes, including a controversial opener from winger Waine Pryce inside 60 seconds.

Referee Steve Ganson awarded the try without referring to the video referee, but replays seemed to suggest Pryce had bounced the ball.

Back row Willie Manu ploughed his way over for a second after five minutes and Cas piled on the pressure as man-of-the-match Danny Brough, who finished with eight goals, scored after Warrington failed to deal with his kick.

The visitors hit back with tries from loose forward Rob Parker and winger Brent Grose but there was more dispute as a Lee Briers' 40-20 kick was scrubbed out by the video referee. Warrington's woes increased when Richie Fa'aoso charged over in the next set of six.

Full-back Stuart Reardon gave Warrington hope but Cas struck again a minute before the break as the superb Danny Sculthorpe opened the door for Lupton to cross unchallenged.

And it was one-way traffic in the stormy second half as the Tigers added four more tries.

Lupton bagged his second of the game after fine work from the impressive Ryan McGoldrick before two tries in three minutes put Cas home and dry, full-back Michael Platt and winger Adam Fletcher the scorers.

The game erupted in a crazy three minute spell that saw three players sin-binned and two - McGoldrick and Paul Wood - sent off for fighting.

A penalty from Brough took the sting out of the game however, and not even late tries from Wolves duo Michael Sullivan and Mike Cooper could take the gloss off Castleford's celebrations.
