LEEDS REPORTS 2006
Picture Chris Feather launches another Leeds attack.

Harlequins 0 Leeds Rhinos 60

Leeds Rhinos stand-off Danny McGuire ran riot to pile more home misery on lowly Harlequins and move Tony Smith's men into second place in Super League.

Quins were missing seven first-team regulars through injury and were shown no mercy by the Rhinos, who scored six first-half tries with McGuire grabbing four.

The Great Britain star opened the floodgates after 11 minutes when he put the finishing touches to Rob Burrow's 50-yard dash.

Rhinos punished Quins again three minutes later when Burrow jinked his way through a dozy defensive line to send McGuire in under the posts.

Great Britain centre Keith Senior then linked up with Lee Smith to send Burrow away for a third try.

And McGuire completed the fifth hat-trick of his career in the 28th minute when Smith sprinted clear before passing inside to McGuire.

Eight minutes before the break McGuire again broke through to cross under the posts again.

And McGuire turned provider before the break when he sent Willie Poching over in the corner.

Burrow converted from the touchline to add to Kevin Sinfield's five and make it 36-0 at the break.

Quins coach Tony Rea rallied his troops at the break and was rewarded with a much-improved display.

Home winger Nick Bradley-Qalilawa did cross in the corner after the break but he was cruelly denied by the video referee for a foot in touch.

Leeds extended their lead in the 52nd minute when Smith intercepted Luke Dorn's long pass and galloped clear.

But the Rhinos had to wait until 11 minutes from time for their eighth try.

Powerhouse New Zealander Ali Lauitiiti crashed over from close range before Chris Feather passed the half-century two minutes later.

McGuire still had not finished though - with two minutes remaining he broke clear to send Senior in for a deserved try and Sinfield maintained his 100% record from nine attempts.

Senior was sin-binned for a professional foul on Dorn in the final minute but Quins could not break the outstanding Leeds defence.
