Leeds heaped more misery on winless Widnes as they maintained their 100%
Tetley's Super League record with a crushing win at the Halton Stadium.
The win was as easy as the scoreline suggests with rampant Leeds running in
four tries before the break to lead 18-0.
The Rhinos took only four minutes to go ahead as Dave Furner's break set up
the chance for Danny McGuire to put the supporting Matt Diskin over with Kevin
Sinfield booting the conversion.
Leeds made it 10-0 after Keith Senior's burst enabled Marcus Bai to go over
and worse followed for Widnes when Aaron Moule was sin-binned for a try-saving
tackle on Diskin. McGuire went over from a quickly-taken tap penalty.
Francis Cummins made it 18-0 just before the break following Furner's kick.
Widnes did have two Chris Giles' tries disallowed but the avalanche of points
continued in the second half.
The Vikings needed an early score to have any chance of a fightback but those
hopes disappeared when Giles fumbled Andrew Dunemann's kick and Sinfield went
over for the try he converted himself.
The Widnes defence was again caught napping as sub Rob Burrow followed his own
kick and go over to make it 30-0 after 51 minutes.
Forward Chris Feather then went on a storming long-range run down the centre
of the field for the seventh try with Burrow converting as Widnes folded.
Then Barrie McDermott charged over five minutes from time with Burrow again
adding the conversion to stretch the lead to 42-0.
But Leeds still were not finished and Bai streaked down the wing for his
second touchdown in the last minute to send the Rhinos charging back to the top
of the table.
