France have included Catalans Dragons' Australian-born trio Clint Greenshields, Casey McGuire and Adam Mogg in their provisional squad for the Gillette Four Nations series, subject to final approval from the International Federation.
The three players have spent the last three seasons in Perpignan and hope that will be enough to make them eligible to represent France.
"The president has been talking to the international board and we're still waiting to hear," said new French captain Olivier Elima.
"We are going to try and get them and I certainly hope they will make it because they are real quality players."
The Dragons provide no fewer than 17 players for coach Bobbie Goulding's 30-strong squad, which will be trimmed to 22 or 23 by October 8.
Elima, formerly with Wakefield and Castleford, takes over the captaincy from Jerome Guisset, who has retired from the international game, while Jean-Philippe Baile has been appointed vice-captain.
"It's a great pleasure for me to captain my country," said Elima. "I will try to do my best to take the team to new heights.
"I've been a vice-captain a couple of times but this is the first time as captain. However, I have a lot of experience and I think it's a natural thing for me."
