Danny Ward has become the seventh Harlequins player to sign a new contract.

The 29-year-old prop, who joined the club from Castleford 18 months ago, was out of contract at the end of the season but has now penned a new 12-month deal.

"There was never a question of me wanting to go anywhere else so, when the club offered me a new contract, I was delighted to sign it," said the former Leeds forward.

"I'm happy down here at Quins, they're a great bunch of lads and I can't see myself playing anywhere else."

Harlequins coach Brian McDermott said: "Danny is a player who you could describe as he does what it says on the tin, he goes out there and performs. A lot of our attack come off the back of Danny Ward play-the-balls. He is Mr Consistent."

Meanwhile, hooker Chad Randall, one of the other Harlequins players to sign a new deal, looks set to lose his club record appearance run.

The Australian twisted his knee during Saturday's 32-16 defeat by Huddersfield - his 101st consecutive appearance - and is doubtful for Sunday's game against Catalans Dragons in Perpignan.

He has not missed a match for more than three years.
