The Rugby Football League are looking to develop an England second team to play a number of fixtures this autumn.
The governing body want to increase their pool of players with international experience and will select mainly from England Academy graduates, although there will be no age restriction.
National team coach Tony Smith said: "Players at all levels need to be involved in more structured and competitive international rugby league to maximise their development, and that's why we're looking at introducing a second England team."
No details of potential fixtures have yet been announced.
