Bradford have been dealt two major injury blows ahead of the new Super League season, with second rower David Solomona and winger Semi Tadulala both ruled out for a minimum of six weeks.
Solomona was carried off on a stretcher four minutes into the second half of today's 28-16 defeat by Wigan in the Paul Deacon testimonial match at Odsal.
The initial diagnosis is a knee medial ligament tear, which would mean a six-week lay-off, but there are fears that the former Wakefield and New Zealand forward may have also sustained damage to his cruciate ligament, which would sideline him for six months.
"He's definitely done his medial and it could be worse," said Bradford coach Steve McNamara.
"We'll find out tomorrow whether he's done his cruciate as well.
"It's not a great day. We have a few minor injuries as well."
Tadulala, who joined the club from Wakefield in the close season, scored a superb try in the 24th minute but went off in the second half with a depressed fracture of the cheekbone, which will force him to miss the first three rounds of Super League XIII.
In addition, Bradford's ex-Salford back row forward Simon Finnigan picked up a groin strain on his first appearance for the club.
The Bulls let slip a 10-6 lead, courtesy of tries from Tadulala and Sam Burgess, conceding four tries without reply until winger Dave Halley grabbed a consolation effort eight minutes from the end.
Samoa centre George Carmont, Wigan's latest signing from Newcastle Knights, demonstrated exceptional power to score a try on his first appearance while teenage winger Sean Ainscough touched down twice.
"George Carmont played well," said coach Brian Noble.
"He's only had four or five days practice with us but he showed he's going to be a useful acquisition.
"All I was looking for was improvement on last week and we got that. We showed some nice touches and got a few combinations going. I thought we looked like a serious team."
