Warrington's teenage flier Kevin Penny completed a meteoric rise to fame on Monday when he was named in the engage Super League Dream Team.
The 19-year-old winger did not make his full debut for the Wolves until round 16 at Leeds in June but shot to prominence with 12 tries in 12 appearances.
Penny, a budding basketball star, did not start playing rugby league until he was 16 and, after being spotted by Warrington playing for his school team, began full-time training at the start of this season.
He got his chance due to injuries to Stuart Reardon and Martin Gleeson, scoring twice on his full debut at Headingley and going on to catch the eye with his lightning pace and brilliant footwork.
Penny has even been compared to the great Martin Offiah and Warrington moved quickly in July to tie him to a new and enhanced four-year contract which will keep him at the Halliwell Jones Stadium at least until the end of the 2011 season.
"It came as a bit of a shock but I'm delighted," he said. "I wasn't expecting to get many starts this year.
"I came into the team when they were quite a few injuries but I was determined to make the most of my chance and do whatever it took to make sure I stayed in the team."
Penny beat his Warrington team-mate Henry Fa'afili, who finished as Super League's leading tryscorer on 21, to a place in the prestigious Dream Team, which is chosen by a panel of the media.
St Helens and Leeds provide seven members of the team but eight different clubs are represented, including Catalans Dragons who have a player included for the second successive year.
Eight of the players in the line-up are British, including Great Britain captain Jamie Peacock who is named for a record-equalling sixth time in eight years, while Penny is one of nine debutants.
Dream Team: Paul Wellens (St Helens), Kevin Penny (Warrington), Adam Mogg (Catalans), Jason Demetriou (Wakefield), Scott Donald (Leeds), Trent Barrett (Wigan), Rob Burrow (Leeds), Nick Fozzard (St Helens), James Roby (St Helens), Jamie Peacock (Leeds), Gareth Ellis (Leeds), Glenn Morrison (Bradford), Stephen Wild (Huddersfield).
