Murrayfield - staging first final. (Allsport)
MURRAYFIELDHome to the Scotland rubgy union team, this magnificent 67,500 all-seater stadium stages its first ever Challenge Cup final as the competition moves away from its traditional Wembley home.
Situated on the outskirts of the Scottish capital, Edinburgh, Murrayfield is well used to hosting showpiece games, having witnessed a number of important fixtures in recent seasons.
Scotland lost narrowly to England in the 1995 World Cup semi-final while the hosts also went down in last year's quarter-final of the same competition, this time to the New Zealand All Blacks .
When the stadium is full and the Scots get behind their team – witness their famous victory over England in this year's Six Nations championship – the atmosphere is something to behold.
And no doubt the fans of Bradford and Leeds will do their level best to live up to the traditions of the legendary `Scottish Roar' come April 29! How to get there: From the south, take the A1 to Edinburgh City Bypass (A720). Follow A720 to its end at Gogar Roundabout. Take second exit at both parts of following double roundabout to join the Glasgow Road heading into Edinburgh. Look for signs to Murrayfield Haymarket which is about two miles from the ground. Edinburgh Turnhouse Airport is about three miles to the north-west of Murrayfield.
Parking:
Large car park at the ground. Facilities:
Bars, food and refreshment outlets near the ground and inside the stadium itself.
Interesting fact:
Full-back Gavin Hastings once kicked six penalties in a match against France in 1986 at the stadium, then a Scottish record.
