Sale announced that Cueto, who won 55 caps and toured New Zealand with the 2005 British and Irish Lions, has signed a one-year deal.

The 34-year-old has scored more Premiership tries than any other player, and he is currently Sale's longest-serving player after joining them in 2001.

"I am delighted to sign a new deal," Cueto said. "I am really enjoying my rugby at the club and I am looking forward to adding to my try tally."

Sale have also confirmed a new two-year contract for Cueto's fellow wing, 22-year-old Tom Brady.

Sharks rugby director Steve Diamond said of the deals: "Mark can play centre, wing or full-back and is enjoying a new lease of life with the club. He continues to score tries and is a player the younger lads look up to and go to for advice.

"Tom is a local lad and playing the best rugby of his career now, and I am sure he will represent the club for many years to come."
