Australia fly-half Quade Cooper kicked 17 points to give the Reds a 22-17 win over the Stormers on Saturday.

Cooper was at the top of his game in Brisbane, converting Rob Simmons' try, adding four penalties and slotting a drop goal to condemn the Stormers to a fourth successive loss.

The visitors actually outscored the Reds by two tries to one, but in the end paid for a fallow period in the middle of the game.

Cooper was first up with a penalty that hit the post, before the Stormers went ahead nine minutes in as Gio Aplon played in Damian de Allende who touched down.

Peter Grant slotted the extras but then Cooper found his range with a penalty to get the Reds going.

Aplon left the field with what appeared to be a dislocated elbow not long after that and as he went off, Simmons crossed under the posts and Cooper upgraded the score to put his side 10-7 up.

He missed a three-pointer as half-time approached but then traded penalties with Grant, before a 57th-minute penalty extended his side's lead.

The same man then took the chance to drop a goal and add another penalty, before the Stormers earned themselves a losing bonus point as the clock wound down.

Sikhumbuzo Notshe was driven over the line and Demetri Catrakilis added a conversion, but it came too late.
