Assistant coach Ricky Pellow was delighted with his side's performance after Exeter ran out emphatic 42-15 winners over London Welsh in their LV=Cup tie at the Kassam Stadium.

The visitors scored four of their six tries in the final quarter, with Nic Sestaret and Jack Nowell both going over twice, to blow away their hosts who had led 9-8 at half-time.

Will Carrick-Smith and Mark Foster touched down for Exeter before their late blitz, with Henry Slade adding 12 points from the boot.

"It was a good battle for the first 40-50 minutes and throughout the game we carried the ball well and controlled the game," Pellow said.

"In the first half we lacked a bit of precision but we were always creating chances."

Pellow believes the Chiefs have some young talent to watch for the future, adding: "Jack Nowell has been knocking on the door since pre-season. He has the ability to beat a man and can't be far off a call up to the Premiership.

"In addition, 19-year-old Henry Slade at outside-half controlled the game well and some of his kicking to the corners was exceptional."

Next up in the LV=Cup for Exeter are the Ospreys at home on Saturday.

Pellow added: "We want to be competitive in every competition we enter, he Heineken Cup, the Aviva Premiership and this one.

"For this young side to get a bonus point-victory here today stands us in good stead for next Saturday."

Despite the heavy defeat, London Welsh coach Lyn Jones was not too downbeat.

Jones said: "We were quite competitive for the first 40 minutes. I was quite pleased with certain aspects of our game.

"Today was a good workout. Our set piece and line-out was strong but give full credit to Exeter, they played flat out.

"We got it back to 18-15 but then the white flag came out for the last 20 minutes as we lost our shape."
