The 30-year-old former Castleford centre or full-back joined Championship club North Wales Crusaders after being released by the Bulls at the end of last season but will make a return to Super League with his home-town club after completing a successful trial period.
Harris said: "Michael is a player who I played with a Bradford so I have good first-hand knowledge of all of his attributes.
"He has an excellent Super League pedigree after spells with the Tigers and the Bulls. He is going to provide us with excellent cover in the back positions right across the squad."
Platt, who joined up with the Red Devils squad on Thursday, is Harris' second recruit following the arrival on loan of Wigan hooker Logan Tomkins.
Platt said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for me to the return to the club where I first started my rugby league career.
"There is such a great feeling about what is happening around the place and I am delighted to be part of what is going on."
Meanwhile, Salford have allowed centre Niall Evalds, 21, to join Championship club Barrow on a season-long loan.
