DOUBLE: Agerzam and Birdlover
Agerzam can complete a quick course-and-distance double as he switches to handicap company in the 32Red Nursery at Kempton.
Roger Varian's charge made it second-time lucky when winning a maiden here at the start of the month and is pitched in off a mark of 85 here.
The Holy Roman Emperor colt had made a fair debut when fifth at Yarmouth in September, racing from an unfavourable draw to be beaten seven and a half lengths.
He evidently felt the benefit of that run when tried on the all-weather last time, claiming a reasonable maiden event in taking style as he clearly enjoyed the Polytrack surface.
Varian tries to repeat the trick here and given the way he triumphed recently, Agerzam could still be a bit better than his rating suggests.
Cat O'Mountain has some way to go before he matches the achievements of half-siblings Michita and Willing Foe, but he should be good enough in the 32Red.com Nursery.
He ran well enough in fourth on his first attempt at Newmarket in August before following up with a win when switched to the all-weather last time.
The Mahmood al Zarooni-trained colt barely hit top stride that day and will evidently be one to follow over middle distances next term.
In the meantime, this mile trip can play to his strengths.
Birdlover ran an excellent second in conditions company recently and boasts much the best form in the 32Red Casino Maiden Auction Stakes.
Well supported at Ascot, she went down by just a head at the beginning of the month and looks eminently capable of winning at least a race like this.
Wincanton kick off their year with some decent action and Allerton can star in the Bathwick Tyres Yeovil Handicap Chase.
The five-year-old was not much to write home about in hurdles and bumper company but really came alive when switched to fences at Newton Abbot last month.
Conceding weight all round, he put in an excellent show of fencing to win with plenty in hand and while this is a step up in class, Fergal O'Brien appears to have a horse of true potential.
Un Bon P'tit Gars is the pick in the European Breeders' Fund "National Hunt" Novices' Hurdle Qualifier at Uttoxeter.
This could be an informative event, with a number of promising types engaged, but the Nick Williams-trained five-year-old won here in May and can make his experience edge in terms of jumping pay against some useful ex-bumper horses.
