ASKAR TAU failed to find his top form in three starts in 2010 in a season in which his stable struggled but he had shaped more promisingly when behind The Betchworth Kid on his reappearance in a Listed race at Nottingham and built on that with a convincing victory to gain his first victory since the Doncaster Cup in 2009 and maintain his yard's resurgent form. He is a dual Group Two winner and should be a factor in all of the Cup races through the season. Theology, who ran his best race of the season over course and distance in the Queen's Vase, was the gamble of the race but failed to land a blow in the straight. This was only his eighth career start and it may transpire that he was in need of this run but it was a disappointing effort in light of the support. Akmal got the run of things out in front and can win again at this level when things go his way. Free Agent narrowly reversed Nottingham form with The Betchworth Kid; he was the first to go in pursuit of the winner and was staying on again close home - he probably doesn't want to get there too soon. The Betchworth Kid needs producing late in the day and this race didn't really play to his strengths (and there must be some question as to whether the course does) but he ran up to his form and continues to perform with credit. Aaim To Prosper was stepping up in class following his victory in the Cesarewitch and was the lowest rated runner in the field; he wasn't disgraced at a track he runs well but could struggle for tactical speed in smaller fields.
