Analysis

A real feather in trainer David O'Meara's cap as BLUE BAJAN continued his progression to peak form with an impressive win. The nine-year-old ran well on fast ground in both the Chester Cup and Yorkshire Cup and could be called the winner a long way out here. He mastered Holberg approaching the furlong marker and ran on strongly. He'll continue to be a force in a weak division. Montaff ran a cracker in second, although the fact he finished third in a Listed contest at York on Saturday suggests this isn't form to get too carried away with. Holberg went to the front turning in but was soon under pressure and slightly below form on his reappearance. Caucus could never quite land a on his having fleetingly looked a threat down the centre of the track but is likely to come on for the run. Aim For Prosper ran well, giving the impression he needs an even sterner test of stamina. John Dunlop expressed concern over the ground for Akmal beforehand and he dropped right away in the final two furlongs to finish tailed off alongside Hamdan Al Maktoum's other representative Nehaam. He looked to have done plenty of work as he returned from 586 days off but was never a factor.
