Analysis

The high numbers held sway this time with HIGH STANDING completing his hat-trick this season thanks to a well-timed run under Ryan Moore. Moore had been keen to settle his mount in rear but he broke fast and needed to be taken back in the early stages. But he eased into the race and challenged approaching the distance before wearing down Asset in the closing stages. The latter was lumbered with topweight and ran a screamer as he took command with what looked like a winning run. But giving almost a stone to High Standing proved just too much although this was an excellent effort all told. Rock Of Rochelle carried the same weight as Asset and also ran brilliantly to make up plenty of ground and snatch a place while Markab gets plenty of credit having raced from a low draw. He was isolated in the middle of track and may have had more of a say if closer to the pair on the far side. Favourite Jimmy Styles was also on the near side and was not a factor after coming under pressure two furlongs out
