Analysis

REWILDING was well-fancied in the market beforehand following his good second over 1m2f at Longchamp last month and he justified that support with a convincing success under Frankie Dettori. Settled towards the rear early, he didn't look particularly comfortable as Kalypso King set only a moderate gallop and it wasn't until Frankie unleashed him in the straight that he found his stride in good fashion. He'd appreciate a faster pace and a bit further on this evidence so quotes of 14/1 for the Derby aren't too shabby in what looks an open year. Godolphin's racing manager Simon Crisford said immediately after the contest that he would be supplemented and if he is Dettori's chosen mount on Derby Day he'll be going off at a single-figure price. Prizefighting and Very Good Day battled for the minor money and the latter was particularly eyecatching given this was just his second race. He looked clueless early on but stayed on well as he got the hang of things and he should be able to make his mark at this level.
