A runaway win and a performance that suggests BROWN PANTHER is not a handicapper, but a real Group horse in the making. Tom Dascombe, fresh from his first Royal Ascot winner on Wednesday, has always thought a lot of this home-bred and his horse put the race to bed in a couple of strides before the two furlong pole. He had been in midfield for quite a way but was encouraged closer by jockey Richard Kingscote before the turn in and he crucially avoided any trouble in running which occurred just before the bend. He was in-front turning for home and quickly kicked away from Well Sharp. Shown the whip he quickened nicely away and was able to be eased down in the final 100 yards. He looks a mature individual and it would be no surprise to see him contesting a race like the German Derby next, and in turn he could contest a Group One before the season ends. Census got going far too late and his performance will go into several notebooks. He didn't get the clearest of runs having been held up off the pace however the response when asked to chase the leaders wasn't immediate and it was only in the final furlong that he ran on with gusto. The effort may flatter him slightly but there's no doubt that he's progressive, although his head carriage may indicate that he's not the easiest to ride. Third home was Well Sharp who deserves plenty of credit as he had to challenge very wide on the turn. He travelled well and did his best to keep tabs on the winner, perhaps paying the price for this in the final 50 yards as he ran out of gas. Communicator was fourth, and like Census he was another to come from off the gallop. He had to waltz his way through runners before the furlong pole and the winner was long-gone by then; he looks sure to win more races when they pan out slightly better. Danadana came home well in fifth, having been hampered on the bend. He's another to keep on the right side of and he showed a likeable attitude by running on well after the incident. Sud Pacifique was expected to improve for the longer trip but he was fairly well held, whilst Apache was involved in the melee at the bend and wasn't persevered with once his chance had gone.
