An exciting performance by BAPAK CHINTA. Despite connections' reservations over the ground, the son of Speightstown saw off his rivals in fine style. Quickly into stride on the far side, he showed good pace to lead the bigger group. He was still on the bridle two furlongs out as his rivals started to struggle and although he had to work had to repel Boomerang Bob with a furlong to run, he was always holding his rival and in the end started to go away again. He had trounced the Windsor Castle winner on his debut at Hamilton and after this performance looks a very exciting proposition; races such as the July Stakes and Gimcrack look obvious future targets, however one wouldn't immediately rule out a crack at the Nunthorpe against his elders. John Hills' Boomerang Bob ran very well, making his challenge with two to run. He was clear of the third and this was certainly a step up on his Windsor run when last seen; another furlong will be no problem to him. Richard Hannon hasn't won this race for a (relatively) long time, but his Crown Dependency ran with great credit. He was outpaced early but soon took hold of the bit in midfield. He had to work hard to try and conjure an effort between rivals after the two furlong pole but just came up short. Fourth home was Burwaaz who did best of the group of five who raced on the stands rail. He looks a progressive colt but may need another furlong before he can be seen at his very best. Signifer, who was badly outpaced in the early stages before running on, was fifth and he was closely followed by the well-backed Bannock who ran a good race. Also well-supported was Silverheels but he never looked like featuring, whilst Sans Loi and Pyman's Theory both got tired after showing good pace. American challenger Everyday Dave showed speed on the near side but he failed to sustain the gallop. Forevertheoptimist shaped with promise here, running on after finding the pace of the race too quick early on.
