Analysis
This was run at a decent clip from the start and Kazlian stretched the field yet further as Tom Scudamore tried to pinch the race from the top of the hill. The combination opened up an eight-length lead and were still going great guns at the second last - which they pinged - but the pack started to find their second wind on the run to the last, headed by Arnaud and UNE ARTISTE. The latter was wrapping up a marvellous day for Nick Henderson as it was his fourth victory on the card and she showed plenty of staying power up the hill to pull clear by a length and three quarters. She had looked smart on her English debut at Haydock but then ran well below par next time - hence her 40-1 starting price here - in a decent heat at Kempton. Perhaps those races were too close together as she was clearly right back on song. Edeymi was being shoved along coming down the hill but started to respond to his rider's urgings and really started to fly once pointed in the direction of the hill. He kept on really well under the stands' rail and held off Vendor back in third. The grey had been considered well in at the weights by connections and was well backed before the off but got shuffled back on the far side of the track and was always struggling to get back on terms thereafter. He battled on to his credit but was never quite closing fast enough and a longer trip will suit in the future. Kazlian ran his heart out and will be very tough to peg back on a less-stiff track judged on this while Arnaud only backed out of things in the final half-furlong. Lemon Drop Red had a good sight of the front but dropped away in the home straight as the ultra-consistent Jackies Solitaire ran another really good race, but like so many, never got into the thick of the action. Ulck Du Lin cut little mustard on his English debut as did Gorgeous Sixty, who was expected to bounce back from a poor effort last time if the support in the betting was anything to go by. Soliwery never seemed happy and was pulled up before the fifth hurdle.
